Key 19: Receive his grace
The new man reborn and restored to God by grace, says first of all ‘Father!’, because he has now begun to be a son. (St. Cyprian, CCC 2782)
It’s by grace you’ve been saved. It’s not your own doing—it’s the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8)
God’s grace saves you to make you his child! It’s a gift because God is a generous kind father!
It’s Freely bestowed on you…. It’s glorious…. It’s immeasurable… (Ephesians 1:3-4)
Did we mention it’s a FREE gift?
You can’t earn it. It’s not like wages… (Romans 4-5)
It’s not the result of works… but it makes you want to do good works! (Ephesians 2:9)
It includes the gift of God’s righteousness… (Romans 5:15-17)
It’s God’s riches he lavishes on you…. (Ephesians 1:7)
God proves his love by offering it while you were “messed up”… (Romans 5It brings redemption… it works through Jesus’ blood.
It brings forgiveness of your trespasses. By it, through faith, you are saved… Since you are justified by it through faith, you have peace with God! (Romans 5:1)
Through your faith in Jesus you have obtained free, confident and bold access to it… (Romans 5:2)
You can stand in it!
Everyone dies because of sin…. but much more surely will all who live by it be saved from eternal death. Just as sin and death came through one man, God makes it available through one man: JESUS! (Romans 5:12-17)
And when you receive it, much more surely will you exercise dominion in life through the one man Jesus Christ! (Romans 5:19-20)
Grace cannot be known except by faith. We cannot therefore rely on our feelings or our works to conclude that we are justified and saved. (CCC 2oo5)
